Forward Deployed Product Manager

About BlueAlpha

BlueAlpha uses econometrics and causal inference models to help growth organizations understand what drives revenue, then operationalize those decisions with AI. We’re already working with large enterprises to bring these capabilities into their growth operations.

We work closely with our customers to understand how decisions get made and turn complex analytical capabilities into products that help teams interpret results, evaluate options, and take action. As a Product Manager, you’ll shape which problems we solve, how our data science reaches users, and how we measure whether the product improves their decisions.

Our vision is to use the causal graphs generated through this work to train our own specialized small language models for growth decision-making. You’ll help translate that vision into a product roadmap, connecting what our models can do with what customers need and building useful capabilities along the way.

The role

You’ll work where customer problems become product decisions. Sitting between Sales, Customer Impact, and Engineering, you’ll understand how our customers operate, identify where automation can make the biggest difference, and personally deploy BlueAlpha’s products with their teams.

Some problems will be solvable with capabilities we already have. Others will reveal something we need to build. You’ll be responsible for understanding the difference, making the case for what comes next, and following through until the solution works in the customer’s day-to-day operations.

This role combines technical understanding, product judgment, and customer ownership. You should be comfortable moving from a customer conversation to configuring a workflow, testing an approach, or defining a clear problem for Engineering.

You’ll have direct exposure to how growth teams make consequential decisions and a direct role in shaping the products they use to act on them.

What you’ll do

Get close to how customers actually work. Build strong relationships with the people using our products and the stakeholders responsible for results. Understand their workflows, systems, pain points, and goals. Stay close as their needs evolve, and understand the problem behind each request.

Find opportunities customers haven’t yet defined. Work with Sales and Customer Impact in early conversations to uncover manual work, stalled decisions, and unmet needs. Make potential solutions tangible using our existing products, and help customers prioritize where to start.

Deploy our products yourself. Become an expert in BlueAlpha’s capabilities and own implementation from discovery and scoping through configuration, integration, testing, and launch. Work directly in the product with customers, troubleshoot issues, and involve Engineering where deeper changes are needed.

Turn customer needs into product direction. Identify patterns across accounts and translate them into clear product proposals: the problem, who experiences it, its business impact, and what a successful solution would do. Distinguish a configuration issue from a missing capability, and a one-off request from something we should build for many customers. Partner with Engineering to prioritize opportunities and validate solutions.

Make automation work in practice. Define success criteria with customers and Customer Impact before launch, including edge cases and where human review is needed. Test workflows with users, support adoption, and improve solutions based on actual usage. Measure whether the deployment saves time, reduces errors, or improves execution.

Bring clarity and keep delivery moving. Turn ambiguous requests into clear priorities, scope, and next steps. Challenge assumptions, explain tradeoffs, and set realistic expectations. Keep Sales, Customer Impact, Engineering, and the customer aligned on what we’re delivering, why it matters, and what’s needed to get it live.

What you’ll bring

  • A technical background. You have a degree in computer science or a related field, previous software engineering experience, or equivalent practical experience. You can understand technical constraints and work through implementation decisions with engineers.

  • Customer judgment under pressure. You’ve worked through unclear requirements, competing stakeholder priorities, or a deployment that wasn’t going to plan. You can challenge assumptions and set realistic expectations while maintaining trust.

  • Evidence of delivery. You’ve taken meaningful responsibility for getting a technical product or implementation into users’ hands and making it work in practice.

  • Product judgment. You can assess which problems matter most, weigh impact against complexity, and recognize when a customer need should become a broader product capability.

  • Clear thinking and communication. You can turn a messy customer conversation into a specific problem, explain the business impact, and give Engineering enough context to act.

  • Initiative and follow-through. You notice where customers are stuck, investigate without waiting for a detailed brief, and bring a proposed next step. You stay close until the solution works and people use it.

  • Comfort with ambiguity. You can manage several customers and priorities, make sound decisions with incomplete information, and adjust as you learn.

  • Practical curiosity about AI. You experiment with AI tools, evaluate where they’re useful, and care about whether they improve the outcome.

Experience in forward deployed engineering, technical product management, or customer-facing technical implementation is a plus. Familiarity with growth operations, marketing measurement, MMM, or attribution is also valuable.

What success looks like

  • Customers move from an unclear need to a working deployment quickly.

  • Deployed workflows are reliable, adopted, and remove measurable manual work.

  • Customers get more value from BlueAlpha’s existing products.

  • Recurring customer problems become well-defined product improvements.

  • Sales, Customer Impact, and Engineering share a clear understanding of customer priorities and delivery commitments.

  • Customer insights directly inform what BlueAlpha builds next.

Compensation

Base salary: $120,000-$200,000 per year, depending on experience.
