Head of Client Impact

BlueAlpha · Reports to CEO · VP-level, leadership team seat

The company

BlueAlpha is a VC-backed business that helps growth teams allocate marketing budgets with the rigor a good investor brings to capital deployment.

Most marketing teams run eight-figure budgets on manual work and numbers they cannot defend. Ad platforms overstate their results. Attribution breaks under scrutiny. This drives two big pools of lost value: millions in misallocated spend, and half a team's week lost to repetitive manual labour - reporting, campaign execution etc.

BlueAlpha solves this problem end-to-end for the World’s most sophisticated enterprises. We embed with our clients’ teams, map how decisions actually get made, build custom econometrics around those decisions using our market-leading data science platform, then automate our clients’ manual work.

Attribution tries to answer one question: did the ad spend make money? There are a hundred more like it – was the promotion profitable or did it just pull forward sales you'd have made anyway, is the price too low, was the new range worth the complexity. Almost none of them get measured, so they're settled in meetings by whoever argues best. We're building one model of what actually drives a consumer business, so a price change and a Meta campaign can be compared in the same units. Marketing is where we start: biggest budgets, worst numbers, fastest to test.

The role

Advise where the capital actually gets allocated. You work with the CEO, CFO, CRO and CMO on how they deploy their commercial budget – not with their analysts on a reporting request. You learn how the business really makes money, where the decisions get made and by whom, and what the models say should change. Then you make the case for it and see it through. Some of that is analytical, some of it is political: you'll be cutting a channel someone has built a career on, and telling a team that the number they've reported for three years was never real. You need to know the modelling well enough to hold your own with a CFO who doesn't like the answer. You won't be building the models.

Take the day-to-day work off them. The findings are only half of what we sell. The other half is absorbing the work their team currently does by hand – the reporting, the campaign builds, the pacing checks – into our automation. You scope what's worth automating, work with engineering to build it, and then do the unglamorous part: getting a client's team to actually change how they work every day. That's what makes us hard to remove, and it's where accounts grow.

Turn all of it into something repeatable. Right now this work is bespoke and depends heavily on who's doing it. You own the system that lets us deliver the same standard at ten times the scale: a repeatable way to map how a client allocates budget, model setups that transfer across a vertical, automation built once and reused, and a delivery team trained to run it. You're also the main input into the roadmap – you're closest to what clients actually need, so you shape what engineering builds next.

Every engagement should make the next one cheaper to deliver and tell us what to build.

How we work

We are a strategic counterpart to the management teams we serve, not a supplier reporting up to them. That only holds if the person in this seat can hold their own on the client's business, not just on our deliverable. Candidates whose experience sits mainly in account management or renewals will find this a poor fit.

Where the role leads

Forward-deployed work is where we find and prove new variables before they become product. What you learn in the field sets the roadmap. You will also help decide which parts of this job software should absorb, working directly with our product team.

What success looks like

  • Client executives pull this person into their own planning conversations. BlueAlpha sits in the room, not on the agenda.

  • The forward-deployed model is documented and repeatable. It no longer depends on whoever has been here longest.

  • Clients call BlueAlpha their best vendor relationship, and point to the work as the reason.

  • Variables discovered in the field, such as pricing and sales motion, make it into the platform.

  • Software delivers a growing share of what people used to deliver by hand.

  • Accounts use more of the platform each quarter, not more of our hours.

  • Renewals stop being negotiations. NRR becomes predictable enough to forecast.

  • Product and company strategy follow patterns this person brings back from the field.

Core responsibilities

Deliver the work itself, impeccably. This sits first on purpose. You own the quality of the analysis, the clarity of the recommendation, and the tone of every client interaction. When an engagement needs to be exceptional, you step in yourself.

Own the client's change management. Insight is the easy half. The hard half is moving budget, rewriting internal narratives, and getting stakeholders to agree. Build the frameworks and the hands-on support that make those changes hold.

Hold the executive relationship. Build direct relationships with client CEOs, CFOs, and CROs that function as partnerships. Know their business and our methodology well enough to be useful in their own strategy discussions.

Mature the forward-deployed playbook. Turn today's early playbooks into a documented delivery model with real standards. Replace improvisation with something a larger team can run.

Partner with product on two fronts. Decide which parts of the playbook software should absorb. Feed the causal variables you find in the field into what the platform covers next. You are one of product's most important sources of signal.

Own retention and expansion. Build the forecasting, segmentation, and account health discipline behind NRR and GRR. Own renewal and expansion strategy with sales and finance.

Build the team. Hire against the standard you set, then develop those people into stronger operators.

Be the client's voice inside BlueAlpha. Bring back where clients win, where they stall, and what they keep asking for. Turn it into input that shapes roadmap, positioning, and company strategy.

What we're looking for

  • You operate as a peer to C-suite teams. A CEO or CFO would want you in the room for their own strategy conversations.

  • You have led client-facing delivery with an embedded team: forward-deployed consulting or engineering, professional services, or a similar hands-on function. Relationship management alone will not translate.

  • You have driven real organizational change at clients, not just delivered recommendations.

  • You have taken an early playbook and turned it into something documented, repeatable, and scalable.

  • You work well with product teams on what to build versus what to deliver by hand, and you want to shrink your own team's manual workload.

  • You have owned retention and expansion revenue in B2B SaaS or data analytics, ideally selling into marketing or growth organizations.

  • You can hold your own with a CMO on marketing measurement, media strategy, or growth economics. Marketing science, MMM, or attribution experience is a strong plus.

Reporting & scope

You report to the CEO, with a dotted line to Sam, our Chief Strategy Officer and hold a seat on the leadership team. You own client success strategy, the forward-deployed delivery model, the team, and the function's operating budget.
